Questions & answers

The things people ask before they book

Removals questions, answered straight — moving around Ruislip, moving abroad, costs and quotes, packing and storage. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

Moving around Ruislip

Which areas do you cover?

Ruislip and its immediate neighbours: Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip (all HA4), Ickenham (UB10) and Eastcote (HA5). We’re a dedicated Ruislip mover, so it’s the patch we work every day.

My road is a 1930s semi with a narrow drive — is that a problem?

Not at all — it’s the classic Metroland move. Much of Ruislip is inter-war semis and mock-Tudor with a driveway and a bay window, sometimes a tight turn from the road. We check the access at the survey and plan where the van sits so the load-in is smooth.

Do you move flats near the tube stations?

Regularly. Ruislip, Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip stations bring blocks and conversions with shared stairs and lift bookings, plus permit parking on some roads. We sort the parking and bring the right crew size so nothing gets rushed on a tight landing.

Can you do office and business moves?

Yes — small offices, shops and studios around Ruislip and the wider HA4 area. Those usually run out of hours so nobody loses a working day, and we sequence the load so the essentials come off the van first.

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as you have a likely date. Fridays and month-ends fill first because that’s when completions cluster, so the earlier you talk to us the more say you have over the day. Working to a tight turnaround? Tell us and we’ll be straight about what’s doable.

Costs and quotes

How much will my move cost?

It comes down to three things: how much there is, how far it’s going, and how easy it is to get in and out at both ends. We don’t post prices online, because a number for a move nobody has seen is really just a guess. Tell us about yours and we’ll take a proper look, then send a clear written quote.

Why won’t you give an instant online price?

Because an instant figure for a job nobody has looked at is a guess dressed up as a price — and guesses are what go wrong on the day. We’d rather take a quick look, in person or over video, and give you a written quote that holds.

What’s the difference between your move plans?

They’re grouped by how hands-on you want to be: Move-only (you pack, we lift and drive), Move + packing (we wrap the fragile bits), Full-service (packed, moved and unpacked) and Office. Each is described by what’s included, never by a price tier. See our move plans.

Will the price change on the day?

Not for anything we could have seen at the survey — that’s the point of looking properly and writing down what’s included. If something genuinely new appears (extra items, changed access), we’ll talk it through before it changes anything.

Moving abroad

Which countries do you move to?

The four we run regularly are France, Italy, Spain and Portugal — we know those roads, the crossings and the customs steps. Thinking of somewhere else in Europe? Ask anyway and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can plan it well.

What happens with customs now the UK has left the EU?

There’s paperwork on both sides now — an inventory, a transit declaration for the goods crossing the EU, and transfer-of-residence forms where they apply. We prepare it with you and lodge what needs lodging. It’s a process, and it’s the part we handle for you.

How do you get to Europe from Ruislip?

The A40 runs along the edge of Ruislip straight toward the M25, then it’s Dover for the ferry or the Eurotunnel at Folkestone. A load leaving HA4 reaches the Channel without crawling through central London first.

Can I share a lorry to keep the cost sensible?

Often the smart choice, especially on the longer runs to Italy and Portugal. A shared or part-load puts your things on a vehicle already heading that way. A full home usually travels as its own load. Your quote sets out which suits what you’re sending.

Packing & storage

Can you pack everything, or just the fragile things?

Either — that’s what the move plans are for. Some people want the whole house boxed; others pack the everyday things themselves and leave us the china, mirrors and artwork. We label by room with an inventory as we go.

Do you offer storage between homes?

Yes. If completion slips or there’s a gap between homes, we can hold your things and deliver when you’re ready — short stay or long, inventoried throughout. Mention it early and we’ll build it into the plan.

Can you move a piano or other heavy items?

Usually yes, with the right crew and kit — pianos, safes, big appliances, garden machinery. Tell us at the survey so we bring the straps and the numbers, rather than discovering it on the day.

Ready to move? Let’s make it clean

Tell us where you’re moving from and to, and the shape of it. We read every message and reply by email with a clear next step — no price lands before we understand the job.
